GOVT. OF SIKKIM

Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure & Ecotourism (IHCAE), Chemchey is ideally located in the pristine mountains of the Central Himalaya on the lap of the world’s third highest peak, the majestic Mt. Khangchendzonga. IHCAE is the first institute of its kind in India to have achieved the remarkable feat of proudly unfurling the Institute flag on the “On the TOP of World” Mount Everest not once, not twice but thrice. And all this within four years of its inception (i.e. 7th Nov 2009). Standing tall in the small but cheerful village of Chemchey, the IHCAE is a haven for nature lovers seeking to get a taste of adventure sports. Its close proximity to one of the world’s best trekking trail (Singilila) which meanders through the beautiful forest covered with rhododendrons and a variety of other alpine vegetation is undoubtedly a breathless moment for many, in the process making it one of the best training institutes for adventure sports in the country. Also, the snow fed perennial rivers of Teesta & Rangeet offer great challenges to the White-water rafting enthusiast. The Institute is basically designed to introduce and educate young people & school children to the exciting, unexplored possibilities of Nature. It also seeks to encourage the youth of the Nation to take up adventure sports as a profession. The campus is extremely well laid out with good infrastructure. It offers its trainees a wide range of activities such as Rock climbing, Mountaineering, White-water rafting, Skiing, Mountain Biking & Paragliding. Its 14 stages obstacle course is one the most challenging events for trainees designed to develop physical endurance and mental alertness. Some of the world’s most captivating adventure sports, it can’t get more exciting than this… its pure exhilaration of the soul, the undying spirit of mankind & its “Never-say-die attitude” !! If you’re an adrenaline junkie, this is the place to be.
